Chalewote Street Art Festival, Ghana

Chalewote is an eclectic affair in Accra’s historic Jamestown. The annual event, held every August, weaves a vibrant tapestry of style, identity and beauty against a backdrop of art, music, design and hair stories.
Now in its eight year, the festival is a melting pot of cultural exchange, creative expression, sportsmanship and community spirit. While streets buzzed with the hyped energy of festival-goers, one of the more subtle nuances I liked observing was the seeming “carry on” attitude of the everyday people who call Jamestown home.

Props to the organisers, musicians, artists and various publics for nurturing a platform for culture, creativity and community.
